Just a quick update on the squash & racketball sections. There will be a further update after the Club Board meeting in July regarding the new clubhouse project and work on the squash court building.
A reminder to cancel unrequired court bookings as soon as possible so that the courts are available for other members and not left empty. This is particularly relevant to peak usage times such as weekday evenings.
On another operational matter, please remember to switch off the court lighting after play, as there have been a few instances of these being left on overnight recently. Utilities costs are increasing, so this is very important if we are to keep lighting free.
The change of club play to Saturday morning has not had much take up, if any on some weeks. Therefore, we will not be continuing with club play sessions for the time being, and look to relaunch in the autumn.
The current racketball league has been extended for an extra couple of weeks as there are still a lot of matches outstanding. There will be a review of the format after this, and we may move to a ladder instead. This has worked successfully in the tennis section, so may be worth a trial.
The Club tournament is up and running - results can be found on the noticeboard in the corridor. A reminder to those still playing that the next round is due for completion by 3 July 2022, and that the plate competition draw, for those that lost their first match, will go online soon after that.
If anyone has comments on the above, please let me know as there is a Squash & Racketball committee meeting on Monday 20 June. Or why not consider joining the committee and have an opportunity to add your voice to discussions?
