Racketball: New players and new leagues

The league stage of the 2017 racketball tournament ends on 25 March. The top 8 players from the league stage will contest the finals, with quarter finals, semi finals and finals all taking place in quick succession on the afternoon of Sunday 2 April. Once the league stage of the tournament is completed I will be setting up new leagues. The number of these new leagues will depend on how many players wish to take part so I should be grateful if anyone who wishes to join or rejoin the leagues would let me know by 25th March and if anyone who has played in the current league but does NOT wish to be included in the new leagues would tell me this, also by 25 March. Anyone who has been contemplating joining the racketball group or who is just curious to see what racketball is like is invited to drop in to watch some or all of the finals on 2 April. A few minutes will convince them that the rumour that it is old man's squash is a myth (or post truth as we now call myths). Racketball both calls for and develops a level of fitness which is at least as high as that needed for squash and, because the ball bounces higher and therefore is harder to kill, develops tactical skills. The rules are almost all identical to those of squash and most squash players adapt to the game very quickly. David Roberts
