Hi All
Further to my recent email and newsletter of 17 July 2020.
England Squash released updated advice on the potential return to play from 25 July 2020. Please see the full guidance and information here:
https://www.englandsquash.com/backtosquash
There are several key factors, in particular about the ways to play, which the Club is considering so that we can make a decision about reopening the squash facilities.
I would welcome feedback from members regarding the points below:
1. We need a rigorous Test & Trace procedure, so there would be a new court booking system - court slots would go to 45 minutes, but only bookable on the hour to allow 15 minutes for safe entry/exit
2. By attending, you are confirming that you have undertaken a pre-attendance symptom check and are not displaying any symptoms of Covid-19
3. Changing facilities can only be used to store bags/equipment - you should arrive changed and ready for play, and the showers would not be available
4. You would need to assist with hygiene of facilities by not using walls to dry hands during play, and disinfecting touch points, such as door handles, at the end of play
5. Only solo practice, or a modified version of singles play called 'Sides' would be permitted - the key rules of 'Sides' are that players must stay to one side of the court during each point, and only one player serves throughout so that only one player handles the ball (full rules and video are on the link above)
6. General social distancing guidelines and other Government advice should be followed at all times
It is important for us to find out whether members would be happy with these restrictions, or would prefer to wait for things to return more to normal before reopening.
Please reply to me at the email address below with your feedback.
Many thanks
